Core of the Core
Alumni Discussion Group
This discussion group, which started meeting in March, aims at not-so-recent alumni who have had time to forget such classes as Human Being & Citizen (“HBC”) and other broad, introductory courses that exposed us to great works. It is a cross between a class and a book club, where members of a discussion group read portions of great works and then discuss them together.
In May we discussed Plato’s Apology and Crito. Our next meeting is June 19th, 7pm to 8:30pm, where we will selected chapters of discuss Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics, followed in July by selected chapters of Augustine's Confessions. We meet on the third Tuesday of the month through July and on the fourth Tuesday in September.
If you are interested in coming, please contact Bill Funk, AB’93, at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details on the readings and for any other questions you have.
