The tour of the exhibition, FOLD: Golden Venture Paper Sculptures, will be led by its curator Andrew Rebatta, Assistant Curator at MOCA. The event will be further enhanced by the presence of Claire R. Thomas (AB '04) who is one of the attorneys featured in the video accompanying the exhibit discussing immigration detention and changes to immigration law and policy.

The exhibit features unique folk art created by Chinese immigrants detained between 1993 and 1997 at York County Prison, Pennsylvania, after the ship they were on, the Golden Venture, carrying 286 passengers ran aground off the coast of Rockaway Beach, Queens on June 6, 1993. What emerges during their incarceration is not only a new style of folk art called Qian Zhi, or “a thousand papers”—a hybrid form of the Chinese paper folding tradition—but a policy of indefinite detention for asylum-seekers.

The dinner at Nom Wah Tu (22 Orchard Street) features Chef Jonathan Wu (AB '01) "synthesizes energy and tradition to deliver a casual and intimate evening experience"; the dinner will be served family style with a cost of $35 per person (not including tax and tip with a cash bar):
